AITA to send two teams for Olympics, pairs Paes with Vishnu

NEW DELHI: India under siege all Tennis Association (AITA) on Thursday, said he made a compromise to resolve the crisis of selection for the Olympic Games with the decision to send two men doubles teams for the event, the Leander Paes connection with Vishnu Vardhan junior.

But in a move that is bound to fall, not so well with Bhupathi, the agency has decided to break the Australia Open and most recently the French Open, winning association with Sania Mirza in mixed doubles.
Khanna said Sania, if you get a wildcard for the Olympic Games on June 28, will partner Paes, the duo combined ranking ensures a direct link to the mega event.
"Sania has already held after the French Open, although she prefers to play with Mahesh, play with any partner in the Olympics," said Khanna.
"Leander and Sania are the only direct entry of the mixed doubles. If Sania gets a wildcard, it will only pair of India at number 19 with their classifications combined," he said.
Asked why Somdev was not considered to be associated with Paes even though he had declared fit, Khanna said: "We will not jeopardize the chances Paes by pairing him with someone who can not be effectively".
Thursday is the last day to submit entries for the London Games to the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
Khanna, however, ruled out any immediate action against Bhupathi and Bopanna disciplinary, who had spared no words to express their dissatisfaction with the original selection.
"To make a tough decision against Mahesh and Rohan is not in the best interest of the nation. AITA established a code of conduct, let us consider the action only after the Olympics," he said.
"IATA supports the decision of the association with Mahesh and Rohan is not the best tennis grounds. AITA admits that this decision can not be right in every respect, but it is best to understand AITA and in the best interest of the players, "said Khanna.

Pak to elect new Prime Minister on Friday

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari summoned a Parliament to meet on Friday to elect a new Prime Minister, Minister spectacular textile emerging as the likely candidate for the job.

Coalition partners Pakistan People Party (PPP) is understood in the authorized President Asif Ali Zardari to decide the next Prime Minister after the Supreme Court disqualified Yusuf Raza Gilani liability for contempt of court on Tuesday afternoon.
